Dear members of the Nigerian Institution of Agricultural Engineers (NIAE), I am delighted to welcome all of you to our website. I am doing this on behalf of the 2025–2027 members of the National Executive Council.
As we all know, the Institution celebrated her 50th Anniversary (Golden Jubilee) in 2025, having been established in 1975.
Between 1975 and now, we have recorded reasonable achievements in both national and international fora. Members of the Institution have contributed and are still contributing to national development both collectively and individually.
We have occupied and are still occupying a number of positions of responsibility in critical sectors of this country. Some of these sectors include education, politics, agriculture, water and sanitation, security, and others. Some of the positions include governor, deputy governor, senators and members of the House, permanent secretary, vice chancellor, director general, executive director, ambassador, commissioners, and chairman of board and council.
In these positions, our people have performed and are still performing creditably and meritoriously. To God be the Glory.
The present National Executive Council has mapped out and is pursuing a number of programmes which include upgrade of the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanization to a grade “A” agency, institution of the G. A. Makanjuola Lecture Series, establishment of departments of agricultural engineering in state ministries of agriculture, universities and polytechnics, recruitment of agricultural engineers into government bodies, and the fight against interlopers in agricultural engineering projects and positions.
Our traditional international conference is on course. This year’s own is coming up at Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Makurdi in Benue State. The date is 9th–13th November, 2026.
On a sad note, we have recorded some deaths and disasters such as flooding, bomb blasts, accidents, and others which resulted in the loss of lives and property of some of our members. May the souls of the deceased rest in peace.
Let me use this opportunity to thank God for the journey so far. I want to thank our members who have been supporting us in cash and kind in various ways, especially during the planning and execution of the G. A. Makanjuola Lecture Series event which took place at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.
Thank you.
